Star Wars: Complete Locations review

Hello!

My name is Egor and I am an illustrator.

Like all creative people, I need a source of inspiration.

In addition to the huge number of sites, a portfolio of specific artists and just pictures on the Internet, I always want to have something tangible that you can touch.

Artbooks have become such an option for me.

Now almost every game or film is complete without additional content and artbooks about the process of creating a particular product.

In this series of reviews, I want to talk about books that, in my opinion, are the most interesting and memorable, and I will begin with

Star Wars: Complement Locations

A small notice - In these videos, I will share my personal opinion about artbooks and at the end of the review I’ll present a personal assessment in several categories:

Print quality

Format

Filling

Price

Additions (turns, extra cover, autograph, etc.)

Almost all artbooks from my collection in the original language.

So back to the book itself.

DK Publishing Publishing, 192 pages, hardcover, good print quality, thick coated paper.

Almost all the attributes of high-quality artbook already here.

The authors are Hans Jenssen, Richard Chasemore and Kemp Remillard.

The first two illustrators are responsible for the classic (already) 6 parts of the film, Remillard already painted for new Star Wars after the franchise was bought by Disney.

This book contains illustrations of various locations from Star Wars in chronological order, as we have seen in movies.

From Episode I: The Phantom Menace to the Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

The book also has excellent large-scale spreads. There are 3 of them.

The first 6 episodes were made in the same style and painted on paper with watercolor and other materials.

For the new parts have already used 3D models and parts of photos.

Like the movie it looks much worse.

In general, the artbook is good, with the exception of the final and deserves its place of honor on the bookshelf.

With a price of about $ 20 on Amazon, this is a very good option to buy.

And if you do not disdain the used of books, then the price of 14 bucks is just great.

So in total:

Print quality - everything is done on the level but a bit frustrating approach, there is no zest that would give the uniqueness of this particular book. 4.0

Format - Good sizes for a good artbook, which is suitable for both gift and personal collection. 4.5.

Filling - Quality illustrations except the last part. four.

Price - The price is fully justified. 5 points

Additions - The presence of turns and a extra cover are a definite plus -  5.

Overall rating: 4.5

– Dimensions – 31 x 26 x 1.8 cm

– Hardcover, 192 pages

– Full color

– Language: English
